Tenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10), 18 – 29 October 2010, Nagoya, Japan

Dear Madam/Sir, I have the honour to inform you that, at the invitation of the Government of Japan, the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10) will be held in Nagoya, Japan from 18 – 29 October 2010. The High Level Segment will be held from 27 – 29 October 2010. I am pleased to attach herewith the provisional agenda adopted by the COP Bureau at its meeting held in Berlin on 26 – 27 November 2008. The pre session documentation of the meeting will be made available as soon as possible and, in any case, no later than three months in advance of the meeting. The pre session documents and information for participants will also be accessible at the Convention website: http://www.cbd.int. In accordance with rules 6 and 7 of the Rules of Procedure for meetings of the Conference of the Parties, the meeting is open to organizations and agencies, whether governmental or non-governmental, qualified in fields relating to the conservation and sustainable use of biological diversity, which have informed the Secretariat of their wish to be represented at the meeting. Registration of representatives from these organizations is subject to the receipt by the Secretariat of an official letter, before the opening of the meeting, from the Chief Executive or President of the organization. The letter must indicate the list of names, the head of delegation, the titles and contacts of the delegates to the meeting and should be received by the Secretariat by 30 September 2010.
