Selected indigenous and local community representatives to receive funding for the Latin American and Caribbean Indigenous and Local Community Capacity Building Workshop on the Convention on Biological Diversity including issues relevant to Article 8(j) Traditional Knowledge & Access and Benefit-sharing, Montreal, Canada, 29-31 October 2009
Dear Madam/Sir, I am pleased to inform you that the selection of indigenous and local community representatives to receive financial assistance to participate in the meeting under reference has been completed in partnership with the Indigenous Women’s Biodiversity Network for the Latin American and Caribbean Region (LAC IWBN). The list of beneficiaries of financial assistance is attached herewith for your information. Thanks to the generous support of the Government of Spain, successful applicants will receive a daily subsidiary allowance to assist with their participation in the capacity building workshop (29-31 October), the international indigenous forum on biological diversity’s preparatory meeting (1 November) and the first three days of the 6th Meeting of the Working Group on Article 8(j) and related provisions (2-4 November). The selected participants will be contacted directly by the Secretariat with regard to travel arrangements. I thank you for your cooperation and continued support to the work of the Convention.
