Notification 2010-055
Invitation to participate in TEEB Survey to identify policy options to reduce the rate of biodiversity loss – by 30 April 2010
Dear Madam/Sir, You will recall that a series of global studies on “The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity” (TEEB) is currently being prepared under the aegis of the Green Economy Initiative of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). This work was welcomed by the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) at its ninth meeting and Parties were encouraged to contribute. The results of TEEB work, including the “TEEB for Policy Makers” report available from www.teebweb.org, will be presented at the tenth meeting of the COP, in Nagoya, Japan. The CBD Secretariat is a close partner in implementing this important initiative. As part of its work to assess the economic benefits of policy action for conservation, the TEEB initiative is undertaking a survey of policy makers to identify a global package of options to significantly reduce the rate of biodiversity loss. The results of the survey will be aggregated to the regional level and used to assess the benefits and costs of possible courses of action to halt biodiversity loss and ecosystem service degradation. I am pleased to invite your participation in this online survey by Friday, 30 April 2010. Further information and the survey itself can be accessed at http://tinyurl.com/TEEB-Policy. If you have further questions about the survey, please contact Biodiversity-options@pbl.nl. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
