Dear Madam/Sir, Further to the notification dated 15 April 2010, this is to remind that the Pacific Sub-regional Workshop on Capacity-building and Exchange of Experiences on Risk Assessment and Risk Management of Living Modified Organisms will take place in Nadi, Fiji from 5 to 7 July 2010 following the generous offer by the Government of Fiji to host this workshop. Accordingly, you are hereby kindly reminded to nominate one expert from your country or organization who is, or is expected to be, actively involved in risk assessment of living modified organisms to participate in the workshop. The nomination is to be accompanied by a curriculum vitae indicating the scientific activities in which the nominee has been involved that are relevant to environmental risk assessment, as well as a description of how the nominee will be able to apply the knowledge acquired during the workshop in future activities. Participants will be selected from among the nominees by Parties and other Governments based on their scientific background. In addition, a limited number of observers will be selected from among the nominees by relevant organizations. Financial support will be available to one participant each from developing country Parties and Parties with economy in transition. It would be appreciated if nominations could reach the Secretariat as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, 21 May 2010, in order to enable us to finalise arrangements for the workshop in a timely manner.
