Notification 2010-151

Dear Madam/Sir, With reference to paragraph A 21 of decision IX/18, Parties were requested to designate a National Focal Point for the Programme of Work on Protected Areas (PoWPA-NFP) vide original notification 2008-124 dated 23 September 2008 (also translated into Spanish https://www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2008/ntf-2008-124-pa-es.pdf and French https://www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2008/ntf-2008-124-pa-fr.pdf), and reminder notifications (2009-053 of 13 May 2009, 2009-079 of 9 July 2009, 2009-170 of 12 December 2009, 2010-109 of 2 June 2010, and 2010-129 of 2 July 2010). As of today, 145 PoWPA-NFPs have been nominated and I extend my sincere appreciation to those Parties. The list of protected area focal points is available on the CBD website at https://www.cbd.int/doc/lists/nfp-cbd-powpa.pdf. In order to facilitate communication and improve capacity for PoWPA implementation in all regions, the Secretariat aims to have a complete list of PoWPA focal points prior to the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10). Parties that have not yet nominated a PoWPA-NFP (see Annex) are therefore kindly reminded to do so by providing the name, contact details and curriculum vitae of the nominee to the Secretariat (secretariat@cbd.int) in the briefest of delays and before 10 September 2010.
