Dear Madam/Sir, I have the honour of transmitting to you an information note prepared by the Business and Biodiversity Offsets Programme (BBOP) with respect to its institutional character which will also be available as UNEP/CBD/COP/10/Inf/27. The information note offers brief introductory information on biodiversity offsets and BBOP, and reports to Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) on how BBOP has responded to relevant COP decisions. Recommendation 3/9 of the third meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Review of Implementation of the Convention notes that Africa requires more information of the BBOP on its mandates, governance structures, source of funding, funding criteria (beneficiaries), link with the CBD and programmes of work. The information note is transmitted to Africa’s CBD National Focal Points, as received. BBOP is scheduled to hold a side event in Nagoya on Tuesday, 26 October, at 18:15 hours, on the margins of the tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the CBD.
