Notification 2011-017

Dear Madam/Sir, In paragraph 10 (b) of decision X/17, the Conference of the Parties requested the Executive Secretary, in collaboration with the Global Partnership for Plant Conservation and other partners and relevant organizations, and subject to the availability of the necessary resources to develop, by 2012, an online version of the toolkit for the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation (GSPC). I am pleased to inform you that, with the support from the Governments of Ireland and Spain, Botanic Gardens Conservation International has been commissioned to take the lead in the preparation of the GSPC toolkit. Drawing on the outcomes of previous consultations regarding format and content of the toolkit Botanic Gardens Conservation International has prepared a short on-line survey to identify additional material for the toolkit. I hereby invite Parties and other governments through their CBD, SBSTTA and GSPC focal points, as well as relevant organizations and stakeholders, to participate in the survey which is accessible from http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/QMZ8FH7 and to extend this invitation to individual experts as appropriate. The survey consists of 10 questions and should take no more than 10 minutes to complete. Broad participation in the survey will be essential for the preparation of a useful GSPC toolkit.
