Request for comments and further inputs to the draft Capacity-building Strategy for the Global Taxonomy Initiative
Dear Madam/Sir, A draft Capacity-building Strategy for the Global Taxonomy Initiative (GTI), at global and regional levels that addresses the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity, was developed in line with decision X/39 (paragraph 16) and presented to the fifteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA) as the annex to document UNEP/CBD/SBSTTA/15/5, available at http://www.cbd.int/doc/meetings/sbstta/sbstta-15/official/sbstta-15-05-en.doc. In line with SBSTTA recommendation XV/3 (paragraph 3), Parties and observer institutions, bodies and organizations, and indigenous and local communities, are invited to submit additional comments on the draft Capacity-building Strategy. The draft strategy is accessible at http://www.cbd.int/gti/. Comments and suggestions on the draft should be provided to the CBD Secretariat (secretariat@cbd.int), as soon as possible and no later than 31 January 2012. The strategy will be revised in light of the comments received and the revised draft will be made available for consideration by the forthcoming sixteenth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice, 30 April to 4 May 2012.
