Soliciting expressions of interest for participating in a collaborative partnership on sustainable wildlife management
Dear Madam/Sir, I am pleased to solicit expressions of interest for participating in a collaborative partnership on sustainable wildlife management, pursuant to recommendation XV/6 of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA). As you are aware, in recommendation XV/6, SBSTTA requests the Executive Secretary to explore options for the development of a collaborative partnership on sustainable wildlife management to enhance cooperation and coordination for implementation of the recommendations of the Liaison Group on Bushmeat, and to report to the Conference of the Parties at its eleventh meeting. Based on the current definition of bushmeat, the thematic scope of a collaborative partnership on sustainable wildlife management would be on sustainable harvesting of wild animals in tropical and sub-tropical countries for food and for non-food purposes, including for medicinal use (UNEP/CBD/LG-Bushmeat/2/4). I invite you to submit an expression of interest to the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity at your earliest convenience (secretariat@cbd.int), but prior to the end of the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties, to be held in Hyderabad, India, from 8 to 19 October 2012.
