Submission of information on your country’s experiences and challenges in making nominations to and using the Roster of Biosafety Experts

Dear Madam/Sir, Please refer to the Secretariat’s earlier notification 2010-212 dated 7 December 2010 transmitting the final report of the fifth meeting of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety (COP-MOP) and a summary of the meeting’s decisions requesting action from Parties and other Governments on a number of issues with the corresponding dates for action, where appropriate. In Decision BS-V/4, the meeting invited Parties and other Governments to submit to the Executive Secretary information regarding their experiences and challenges in nominating to and using experts from the roster of biosafety experts, as well as project future needs with the view to improving the nomination processes and the nomination form at least six months before the sixth meeting of the COP-MOP. In order to allow the Secretariat sufficient time to analyze the results and prepare the background paper for consideration, by the sixth meeting of the COP-MOP in India (COP-MOP/6), you are kindly reminded to submit the information as soon as possible, but no later than 31 March 2012. In the event that you have already made your submission to the Secretariat, please disregard this reminder. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
