Dear Madam/Sir, Reference is made to the regional workshop for indigenous and local community representatives of Asia and the Pacific in preparation for the eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 11) to the CBD, to be held in Chang Mai, Thailand, 9 to 12 July 2012, with the generous financial support of the Governments of Spain and Japan. I am pleased to inform you that, after due consideration of all nominations received, the selection of participants of indigenous and local communities from the Asia and Pacific region to receive financial assistance in support of their participation has been completed. The selection was carried out in partnership with the Indigenous Peoples’ International Centre for Policy Research and Education (Tebtebba) and the Asia Indigenous Peoples Pact (AIPP) with due regard to fair and equitable sub-regional representation and gender balance. The list of beneficiaries of financial assistance is attached as Annex. The selected participants will be contacted directly by the Secretariat with regard to travel arrangements.
