Selected ILC representatives to receive funding from the Voluntary Fund for participation in the ABS Clearing-House Capacity-building Workshop, 23 February, and the Third meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Intergovernmental Committee for the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (ICNP3), 24 to 28 February 2014, Pyeongchang, Republic of Korea

Dear Madam/Sir, In connection with the ABS Clearing-House Capacity-Building Workshop and the Third meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Intergovernmental Committee for the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing (ICNP3), I am pleased to inform Governments, indigenous and local communities and stakeholders that, after due consideration of all nominations received, the selection of representatives of indigenous and local communities to receive financial assistance in support of their participation in the above-mentioned meetings has been completed and approved by the Bureau of the Conference of the Parties. The list of beneficiaries of financial assistance is attached for information. The selected participants will be contacted directly by the Secretariat with regard to travel arrangements. The selection was carried out in accordance with the criteria for the operation of the Voluntary Funding Mechanism to facilitate the participation of indigenous and local communities in the work of the Convention on Biological Diversity, set out in the annex to decision VIII/5 D of the Conference of the Parties, and in accordance with the selection criteria established in section B of the annex.
