Survey on capacity-building and awareness-raising needs for cooperation among multilateral environmental agreements at the national level: Invitation to complete a questionnaire

Dear Madam/Sir, I am writing to invite your input to a study currently being undertaken by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD). The study aims to identify “key capacity-building and awareness-raising needs regarding cooperation with other multilateral environmental agreements at the national level”, as requested by the Conference of the Parties to the CBD in paragraph 11 of decision XII/6 on cooperation with other conventions, international organizations and initiatives. The report of the study will be submitted as an input to a workshop that will be held in early 2016 with the participation of representatives of Parties to each of the biodiversity-related conventions as part of a Party-led process established in the same decision aimed to support Parties to enhance synergies and improve efficiency among the conventions with a view to enhancing their implementation at all levels. As a means to inform the study, I would be most grateful if you could complete a short questionnaire that can be found online at the following link: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MEA_cooperation. The questionnaire seeks the views and experiences of national focal points of the biodiversity-related conventions and other stakeholders and experts, on key capacity-building and awareness-raising needs, at national level, regarding cooperation between the conventions. The CBD Secretariat would appreciate responses to this questionnaire by 4 December 2015, in order to prepare the final analysis in time for the workshop. Should you have any questions concerning the questionnaire or the project, please contact the Secretariat at secretariat@cbd.int. I encourage you also to forward this request to organizations involved in the implementation of the biodiversity-related conventions whose experience and views may be relevant to this survey. Thank you for your continued support of the work of the Convention. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
