After careful review of the 27 expressions of interest that were received by the Secretariat before the extended deadline of 30 November 2015, and taking into consideration the criteria that were set out in the notification and the need for an equitable geographical balance among the recipients, I am pleased to inform you that the following 10 developing country Parties and Parties with economies in transition have been selected to receive financial assistance to participate in the project: Belarus, Burkina Faso, China, Colombia, Ecuador, Malawi, Malaysia, Mexico, Republic of Moldova and Uganda. The Secretariat will, in the coming days, contact the selected Parties with regard to further arrangements. I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Government of Japan, through the Japan Biodiversity Fund, for providing the financial support for the project.
