Selected representatives of indigenous peoples and local communities to receive funding from the Voluntary Trust Fund for participation in the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 13) and meetings of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol (COP-MOP 8) and to the Nagoya Protocol (COP-MOP 2), 4 to 17 December 2016- Cancun, Mexico

Dear Madam/Sir, In connection with the thirteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 13) and meetings of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Cartagena Protocol (COP-MOP 8) and to the Nagoya Protocol (COP-MOP 2) to be held in Cancun, Mexico from 4 to 17 December 2016, I am pleased to inform you that, after due consideration of all nominations received by the Advisory Selection Committee, and in consultation with the Bureau of the Conference of the Parties, the selection of representatives of indigenous peoples and local communities who will receive support for their participation in the above-mentioned meetings has been completed. Please find attached the list of beneficiaries of support for your information. The selected participants will be contacted directly by the Secretariat with regard to their travel arrangements. Furthermore, subject to the availability of extra funds, additional participants may receive support. The selection was carried out in accordance with the criteria for the operation of the Voluntary Funding Mechanism to facilitate the participation of indigenous and local communities in the work of the Convention as set out in the annex to COP decision VIII/5 D, and in accordance with the selection criteria established in section B of the same annex.
