REMINDER NOTIFICATION: Progress on Implementation of the Programme of Work for Article 8(j) and related provisions: Request for contributions to the second meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity

Dear Madam/Sir, Reference is made to notification 2017-116 issued on 8 November 2017, inviting Parties, other Governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, and relevant organizations to submit views and information on progress towards Aichi Biodiversity Target 18 on traditional knowledge and customary sustainable use of biodiversity, including on the various elements of the target, as well as implementation of the plan of action on customary sustainable use of biological diversity. Parties, other Governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, and relevant organizations are kindly reminded to submit their views and information as soon as possible. Based on the information received, the Secretariat will prepare a document on progress towards Aichi Biodiversity Target 18 for the consideration by the Subsidiary Body on Implementation at its second meeting. In order to facilitate the timely preparation of the documentation for the second meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation, Parties, other Governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, and relevant organizations are invited to submit their contributions on progress towards Aichi Biodiversity Target 18, as soon as possible and no later than 26 January 2018. Please note that all submissions should be provided, preferably electronically, to secretariat@cbd.int.
