Notification 2021-027

Dear Madam/Sir, I am writing as a follow-up to notification 2021-026 (https://www.cbd.int/doc/notifications/2021/ntf-2021-026-sbstta-sbi-en.pdf) on the formal meetings of the twenty-fourth meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice (SBSTTA 24) and the third meeting of the Subsidiary Body on Implementation (SBI 3). I am pleased to inform Governments and observers that the scenario note for SBSTTA 24 and for SBI 3, as approved by the SBSTTA Bureau and COP Bureau respectively, are available at: https://www.cbd.int/doc/c/15ff/2adb/12ffc3571891b206a853a55f/sbstta-24-01-add2-en.pdf and https://www.cbd.int/doc/c/2f40/9721/99a2b19985e14837050fd5c9/sbi-03-01-add2-en.pdf, and are also accessible on the SBSTTA 24 (https://www.cbd.int/meetings/SBSTTA-24) and SBI 3 (https://www.cbd.int/meetings/SBI-03) webpages. The Secretariat will continue to update these webpages as new information becomes available, including the platform and connection details for the meetings, and other background documentation. As indicated previously, as per the practice for formal meetings of the subsidiary bodies, the designation of representatives to participate in the SBSTTA 24 and SBI 3 should be addressed to the CBD Executive Secretary through an official letter of nomination, to be sent by e-mail to secretariat@cbd.int or by fax at +1 514-288-6588, as soon as possible but no later than 29 April 2021. Please refer to the above-mentioned notification for information on designation of speakers. Also, taking into account some difficulties with internet connectivity, it may be possible to arrange for Parties to have access to meeting facilities in UN country offices with enhanced internet connectivity to allow negotiations to proceed virtually. In this regard, for those Parties who may wish to avail such support, kindly let the Secretariat know as soon as possible, and no later than 22 April 2021, to allow the request to be made to the respective UN country offices.
