NEW DATES: Sustainable Ocean Initiative Workshop on Ocean-related Capacity-building Needs for the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, 5-9 June 2023, virtual

Dear Madam/Sir, Further to notification 2023-016 dated 24 February 2023, I am writing to inform you that, due to unforeseen circumstances, the Sustainable Ocean Initiative workshop on ocean-related capacity-building needs for the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, originally planned to take place from 24 to 28 April 2023, is being rescheduled and will be held virtually from 5 to 9 June 2023. The Secretariat regrets any inconvenience that may result from this postponement and conveys its appreciation to those who have already submitted their nominations. As specified in the previous notification, developing country Parties and other Governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, and relevant organizations and initiatives are invited to nominate one expert to participate in this workshop. Nominations must include: i) an official letter addressed to the Executive Secretary, signed by the national focal point or head of the organization/initiative, indicating the name and full contact details of the nominees; ii) the completed nomination form that can be found here https://www.cbd.int/meetings/SOI-WS-2023-01; and iii) the curriculum vitae of the nominees, clearly indicating their areas of expertise and experience. All nominations must be received as soon as possible but no later than 30 April 2023 (scanned and attached to an e-mail addressed to secretariat@cbd.int). Participants will be selected from among nominees based on relevant expertise and experience, taking into account gender balance and equitable geographical representation, as well as previous experience in scientific, technical and capacity-building work under the Convention and in efforts to implement the Convention. Workshop materials will be forwarded to the selected participants and posted on the CBD website in due course. The workshop will be held in English, with interpretation into Spanish and French. I thank you for your cooperation in this matter and your continued support for the work of the Convention. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration.
