Invitation to participate in the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership Stakeholder Mapping Survey

Dear Madam/Sir, On behalf of the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership, I would like to invite stakeholders involved in and/or supporting the review, update, implementation, and monitoring of their national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs) and contributing to the goals and targets of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) to participate in a stakeholder mapping survey. The survey is being conducted by the interim Global Coordination Unit of the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership, comprising the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The purpose of the survey is to identify the range of stakeholders involved, their roles, the support they offer, and their geographic scope, with the goal of enhancing collaboration and cooperation for biodiversity. The results of the survey will help to inform and guide the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership and other NBSAP supporting initiatives and processes, including the GEF Early Action Support Project, on how to best foster synergies among stakeholders and offer tailored support for the effective implementation and monitoring of the GBF through coordinated actions. The survey is accessible here and may take about 30 minutes to complete. We recognize this is a significant investment in time and believe the results will help mobilize and promote coordinated global support for the effective implementation and monitoring of the GBF. Kindly complete and submit the survey at your earliest opportunity but no later than 15 September 2023. Should you require any further information, kindly refer to Annex A for additional instructions on how to complete the survey or contact the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership team at info@nbsapaccelerator.org. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support to the work of the Convention and its Protocols. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of my highest consideration. Annex A Details on the Stakeholder Mapping Survey Background The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership, initiated by the Governments of Colombia and Germany and launched at COP 15, currently comprises 21 governments and 8 organizations committed to accelerating the implementation of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) through the national biodiversity strategies and action plans (NBSAPs). Its aim is to enhance national ambition and political commitment to the NBSAP update, review, implementation, and reporting by facilitating access to financial and technical support through customized in-country facilitation and matchmaking, enabling cross-country learning, raising the political profile of NBSAPs, and promoting collective action for nature-positive development. The NBSAP Accelerator Partnership is undertaking a survey to gather information on stakeholders, existing resources and initiatives that could support Parties in the review, update, implementation, and monitoring of their NBSAPs. The results will help to inform and guide the NBSAP Accelerator Partnership and other NBSAP supporting initiatives on how to best foster synergies among stakeholders and offer tailored support for the effective implementation and monitoring of the GBF through coordinated actions. Time Commitment and Requested Deadline The survey may take about 30 minutes. Kindly complete it by no later than 15 September 2023.
