Notification 2026-047

Dear Sir or Madam,

In its decision 16/32, the Conference of the Parties adopted mechanisms for planning, monitoring, reporting and review, including the global review of collective progress in the implementation of the Framework to be conducted at the seventeenth and nineteenth meetings of the Conference of the Parties. One of the main inputs to facilitate the global review is the global report of collective progress in the implementation of the Framework. 

In accordance with the indicative timeline for developing the global report adopted by the Conference of the Parties in annex IV of decision 16/32, the draft global report is being made available for peer review from 2 to 29 June 2026. The draft report has been produced in line with the annotated outline and related guidance provided by the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice in its recommendation 27/1, and with the advice of the Ad Hoc Scientific and Technical Advisory Group for the Preparation of the Global Report.  

Following the peer review, a revised version of the global report as well as a summary of the comments received will be developed by the Secretariat with the support of the Advisory Group and made available for the consideration of the Subsidiary Body on Scientific, Technical and Technological Advice at its twenty-eighth meeting, and the Subsidiary Body on Implementation at its seventh meeting. As per the timeline in decision 16/32, the global report is provided for peer review unedited and in English only and the revised version of the document will be available in mid-July 2026. Reviewers are encouraged to focus on substantive and technical comments, not on grammatical or formatting issues. 

Parties, other Governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, and relevant organizations are invited to participate in the peer review of the draft global report. The draft report and review template are available on this webpage: https://www.cbd.int/gbf/implementation/globalreview. Supplementary information relevant to the production of the global report, which is not for peer review, will be added to this page to support the peer review process.
