Peer review of the study on financial security (Article 10 of the Nagoya - Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress)

Dear Madam/Sir, Article 10 of the Nagoya – Kuala Lumpur Supplementary Protocol on Liability and Redress and decision CP-9/15 (https://www.cbd.int/doc/decisions/cp-mop-09/cp-mop-09-dec-15-en.pdf) requested the Secretariat to commission a study on financial security mechanisms addressing: (a) the modalities of financial security mechanisms; (b) an assessment of the environmental, economic and social impacts of such mechanisms, in particular on developing countries; and (c) an identification of the appropriate entities to provide financial security. Using funds available in the voluntary trust fund, the Secretariat has commissioned a consultant to undertake the study. I would like to inform you that the draft study is now available for peer review at the following webpage: http://bch.cbd.int/protocol/supplementary/Study.shtml. Please note that the document is a draft, for comments only, and not for citation or other uses. The deadline for submitting comments on the study is 25 June 2021. Kindly send your comments to the Secretariat by e-mail to: secretariat@cbd.int using the template for peer review comments, which is accessible in electronic format on the peer review webpage indicated above. Comments not using the template will not be considered. Also, please submit any comments in Word format.
