How the public can participate in WG2020-3

The overall approach for the organization of the first part of the WG2020-3 meeting follows those applied to the formal virtual meetings of the subsidiary bodies held in May and June 2021, taking into account also the experience of those sessions and the lessons learned.

The timing and modalities for organization of the meeting respond to the current extraordinary circumstances as related to the COVID-19 pandemic and do not set a precedent for the organization of similar meetings under the Convention on Biological Diversity in the future. 

Watching the Sessions

Please note that the proceedings of the contact groups are closed to the public. 

All plenary sessions will be webcast, recorded and available on demand on CBD’s YouTube channel. The Secretariat would like to make it clear that the following dates have open, plenary sessions:

Learning and Resources

The meetings represent a critical step in finalizing the Global Biodiversity Framework, which will be presented and adopted by Parties to the CBD at the 15th Conference of the Parties (COP15), Part 2, in Kunming, China. Key information to review while watching the plenaries include:

• The WG2020 Co-Chairs, with support from the CBD Secretariat, have prepared 25 one-pagers as an information supplement to the first draft of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework

WG2020-3 will contribute to the development of the post-2020 framework. The meetings are meant to help to maintain momentum in the preparation for the fifteenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties (COP 15) and related meetings, including important work related to the development of the post-2020 global biodiversity framework.
