Belize, recognized as a world biodiversity hotspot, has ratified the United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) since December 30, 1993.
The Ministry of Sustainable Development, Climate Change & Disaster Risk Management in keeping with its commitment to the CBD is implementing a series of initiatives to commemorate the International Day for Biodiversity. The National Biodiversity Office held a national poster competition. Three winners ranked highest for contributions to biodiversity, clarity, attractiveness, creativity, and compliance with poster requirements.
The aim of the competition was engage youths on the measures that can be taken at an individual and community level to contribute to reducing the threats to biodiversity in Belize.
