Lists of 22 actions for biodiversity
Given the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, Biodiversity Day 2022 is commemorated mainly through online campaigns to ensure safety of all participants. You are in the best position to know what awareness-raising campaigns and calls to action are feasible at your national level considering local conditions, the COVID context and related restrictions.
The lists of 22 actions for biodiversity are not exhaustive. Examples are given for online and in-person actions. We acknowledge that some actions may not be feasible in certain countries or communities. The actions suggested in the lists are meant to mobilize action for biodiversity and to create engagement and participation in the Biodiversity Day campaign. They are by no means exhaustive or fully representative of all the possible actions that can be taken around the globe. We apologize for any inconvenience or misunderstanding this could cause. We look forward to your feedback. Please contact us for any comments and suggestions to rectify any inconsistencies. More importantly, we invite you to create your own lists of 22 actions for biodiversity, which will be more representative of your work and adapted to your field of interest.

We acknowledge that there are thousands of individuals and organizations around the world undertaking extraordinary work for biodiversity each and every day.
The information provided within each list of 22 biodiversity-related items is meant to create engagement and participation in the Biodiversity Day campaign and is by no means exhaustive or fully representative of all the initiatives taking place around the globe or all the individuals, organizations, and entities that promote biodiversity. We apologize for any inconvenience or misunderstanding this could cause and we look forward to your feedback. Please contact us for any comments and suggestions to rectify any inconsistencies. More importantly, we also invite you to create your own lists of 22 biodiversity-related items, which will be more representative of your work and adapted to your topic of interest.
Materials submitted by participants
Participants are asked to submit content owned by them and that does not infringe on copyrights of others. Please refer to the Terms of Use for more details.
By submitting content, participants in the Biodiversity Day campaign acknowledge and agree that their materials become open access, subject to the same terms as other Biodiversity Day assets available online, i.e. under Creative Commons License Attribution-Non Commercial 3.0 (CC BY NC 3.0). Copyright is retained by the participants.
The Secretariat takes no responsibility for any claim or damage against copyright infringement in relation to the materials submitted by the participants.
The views reported in the materials submitted by participants do not necessarily represent those of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Making available the materials submitted by participants on the website of the Secretariat does not imply the endorsement of the materials or the links thereof by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
Translations
Participants in the Biodiversity Day campaign are encouraged to translate content available on the website. However, the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity is not able to verify the accuracy of the submitted courtesy translations. While other language versions may be adapted to better suit the diversity of local cultures, in the event of any discrepancy between the translations, the English version shall prevail in determining the spirit, intent, and meaning of the Biodiversity Day campaign.
General provisions
Biodiversity Day assets are freely available online. They are open access, subject to the terms of the Creative Commons License Attribution-Non-Commercial 3.0 (CC BY NC 3.0). Copyright is retained by the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity or the participant, as appropriate.
Users are encouraged to download, reuse, reprint, modify, distribute, and/or copy text, figures, graphs and photos from the Biodiversity Day campaign, provided the original source is credited.
The designations employed and the presentation of materials in the Biodiversity Day campaign do not imply the expression of any opinion whatsoever on the part of the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity concerning the legal status of any country, territory, city or area or of its authorities, or concerning the delimitation of its frontiers or boundaries.
In case of any conflict or inconsistency between the terms of use and provisions related to the Biodiversity Day campaign and the Terms of Use on the website of the Convention on Biological Diversity, the latter shall prevail.
