Peer Review: An integrated science-based indicator, metrics and progress measurements tool on biodiversity and health

Introduction 

In its decision 16/19, the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity requested the Executive Secretary to complete the work conducted pursuant to paragraph 13 (a) of decision 14/4 on the development of integrated science-based indicators, metrics and progress measurement tools on biodiversity and health, taking account of section III, including its paragraph 14, of the annex to the present decision, among others.  

Accordingly, the Secretariat has engaged expert support for the development of the following documents:  

  1. Steps and methodology for the development of an indicator, metrics and progress measurement tool on biodiversity and health; 
  2. Annex I: compilation of existing indicators for monitoring of biodiversity and health interlinkages; and 
  3. Annex II: composite indicator on the mainstreaming of biodiversity and health interlinkages.  

Notification 2026-021 was issued inviting Parties, other Governments, indigenous peoples and local communities, and relevant organizations and stakeholders to participate in a peer review on the draft documents.

Instructions

Submissions from Parties should be made through the relevant national focal point to the Convention, and those from accredited observers should be made through the head of the organization.
