UNESCO Branch of Serres
We would like to inform you that on 22-24 May 2009, the Branch of Unesco for Serres, Greece, will celebrate the International Day for Biological Diversity, organising a photography exhibition with photos from the Kerkini Lake. Kerkini Lake is very close to the city of Serres and is vitalised by river Strimon, a river that connects Bulgaria and Greece. The lake is rich in biodiversity and is one of the most important ecological places in the Balkans, and vital for the life and the economy of the populations living around it.
