Notification 2020-028

Peer review of a study related to Article 10 of the Nagoya Protocol

Dear Madam/Sir, The Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Nagoya Protocol on Access and Benefit-sharing, at its third meeting, requested the Executive Secretary to commission, subject to availability of resources, a peer-reviewed study on a global multilateral benefit-sharing mechanism (Article 10 of the Nagoya Protocol) to identify specific cases of genetic resources and traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources that occur in transboundary situations or for which it is not possible to grant or obtain prior informed consent (Decision NP-3/13, paragraph 5(a)). Accordingly, the Secretariat has commissioned the study thanks to the generous funding from Belgium, the European Union, and South Africa. The draft of the study is now available for peer review at the following webpage: https://www.cbd.int/abs/art10/2019-2020/study.shtml. The document will remain open for peer-review from the date of this notification to 23 March 2020. Please note that the document is a draft, for comments only, and not for citation or other uses. Kindly send your comments to the Secretariat by e-mail at: secretariat@cbd.int using the template for peer-review comments, which is accessible in electronic format on the peer-review webpage indicated above. Also, please note that the Secretariat prefers to receive the peer-review comments in Word format. Thank you for your cooperation and continued support to the Convention and its Nagoya Protocol. Please accept, Madam/Sir, the assurances of our highest consideration.
