Transboundary Conservation Projects supported by the PBDI
The Peace and Biodiversity Dialogue Initiative (PBDI) supports transboundary cooperation initiatives around the world through seed funding of up to USD 50,000. Eligible projects are those that contribute to one or more of the PBDI’s objectives, with activities ranging from convening meetings and delivering capacity-building programmes to conducting feasibility studies and developing joint management strategies. By providing targeted resources and technical support, the PBDI helps advance the conservation and protection of areas of particular importance for biodiversity and for ecosystem functions and services; enhance ecological connectivity; strengthen effective management and equitable governance; and respect the rights of Indigenous Peoples and Local Communities, while also strengthening international relations and promoting cooperation.
The table below presents examples of projects supported through the PBDI, illustrating the diverse ways in which seed funding and expertise have advanced transboundary conservation efforts worldwide.
