Discussion Forum for the consultation on sustainable use (07 – 11 September 2020)

The forum aims to allow further discussions as part of the consultation on the sustainable use of biological diversity for the post-2020 global biodiversity framework with a view to provide the Co-Chairs of the Open-Ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework and Parties at the third meeting of the Open-ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework with concrete and constructive inputs on all the different elements of the draft framework that relate to the sustainable use of biodiversity.

Participants will be invited to consider a number of guiding questions under the Threads of the Forum. The Thread topics were based on some of the preliminary results of the online survey and have been prepared under the supervision of the co-leads of the consultation and in close collaboration with the Co-Chairs of the Open-ended Working Group on the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework.

Participation in the Forum

Participation in the Forum is open to Parties to:
  • those registered for the virtual thematic consultation on SU;
  • those registered for the thematic consultation originally scheduled to be held in Bern.

By registering to take part in the Forum, participants have expressly authorized the Secretariat to summarize and disseminate all or part of their postings to the Forum as part of any document(s) that may be subsequently prepared by the Secretariat. The information collected and synthesized will not be attributed to any specific person.

Participants are invited to:
  1. Briefly introduce themselves when posting first message (name, country and institutional affiliation);
  2. Respond to the thread(s) started by the moderator;
  3. Subscribe to the thread(s) to follow and receive notifications;
  4. Keep messages brief, concise and relevant to the topic or question being discussed;
  5. Be respectful of others’ viewpoints.
