Show map

The national targets (or equivalent) presented in this database are taken from the NBSAPs received since COP-10, fifth national reports or from documents submitted separately. The mapping of national targets to the Aichi Biodiversity Targets by the Party concerned is indicated in the last column “Related Aichi Target(s)”. All Parties are encouraged to undertake this mapping exercise and to submit this information to SCBD for incorporation in this database.

Reference Target Related Strategic Goals/Aichi Targets
Target 1 By 2021, awareness programmes are carried out that target all persons, thereby making 75% of the population aware of the values of biodiversity and the steps they can take for its conservation sustainable use.
Target 2 By 2021, biodiversity values have been integrated into decision-making and planning processes.
Target 3 By 2021, incentives, including subsidies, harmful to biodiversity have been gradually eliminated or reformed, and positive incentives for the conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity have been developed and applied, taking into account national socioeconomic and cultural circumstances.
Target 4 By 2021, the number of Governments and non-governmental institutions that have implemented plans for sustainable production and consumption is increased to 50%, thereby limiting impacts on the country’s natural resources.

Target 9 By 2021, programmes to improve the conservation of 70% of threatened species have been developed and implemented.
Target 10 By 2021, the rate of loss of natural habitats, including forests, is decreased by 25%.
Target 11 By 2021, ecosystem contribution to carbon stocks has been improved, through conservation and restoration of at least 50% of degraded ecosystems, thereby contributing to climate change mitigation and adaptation and to combating desertification.
Target 12 By 2021, at least 90% of restoration plans for deteriorated ecosystems that provide essential services are implemented.
Target 13 By 2021, important genetic resources in the country are conserved and protected.
