South Africa’s National Biodiversity Assessment (NBA) is a collaborative effort to synthesise the best available science on the country’s biodiversity. Produced every 7 years, it informs policy, supports decision-making across multiple sectors, and contributes to national development priorities. It is the primary tool for monitoring and reporting on the state of biodiversity in South Africa, and is produced by the South African National Biodiversity Institute in partnership with numerous institutions and individuals. The NBA 2025 consists of a book, the Summary of Findings and Key Messages, and a website
https://nba.sanbi.org.za/ containing detailed findings on specific ecosystems and taxonomic groups.
