2018 IDB Celebrations

In the past twenty-five years, global environmental governance mechanisms such as the CBD have helped countries in the Hindu Kush Himalaya (HKH) sustain mountain biodiversity. Although meeting the CBD’s national and global targets is a tremendous challenge, this IBD is an opportunity for us to reflect on what we might count as our major achievements and what we have yet to do.

On May 22nd 2018, for the 25th anniversary of the International Day for Biological Diversity (IDB), officials of the government of Cambodia, the Asean Secretariat and the Asean Centre for Biodiversity (ACB), united in Siem Reap, Cambodia, to celebrate the occasion. The annual event was held at Wat Bo Primary School and functioned as a space for representatives of the government, international organizations, youth, media and other sectors to coalesce to display their pledge to biological diversity and to celebrate 25 years of the Convention on Biological Diversity.
