Tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10)

The purpose of this side event is to inform and assist the Contracting Parties in the implementation of Article 8 (f): ecosystem restoration and species recovery. The distinguished panelists will discuss the socio-economic rationale for restoring ecological infrastructure and how restoration projects and programs can assist countries in addressing the pressing issues of biodiversity loss, sustainable livelihoods, and climate change. The GBO3 “Further notes the need to place greater emphasis on the restoration of degraded terrestrial, inland water and marine ecosystems with a view to re-establish ecosystem functioning and the provision of valuable services, taking note of relevant guidance”.
