Tenth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 10)
The side event will present the findings of the Japan Satoyama Satoumi Assessment (JSSA) which has recently completed. The JSSA applied the approach of the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment (MA) to assess the condition and trends of the socio-ecological production landscapes in Japan and to suggest a way forward to sustainable use and management of those ecosystems for human well-being. The event will discuss how the experience and findings of the assessment can contribute to the CBD objectives and to developing environmental and development policies and their implementation.
