The European Commission has completed the new Soil Biodiversity Atlas as a contribution to the International Year of Biodiversity. The Atlas represents a major initiative to compile and disseminate information on soil biodiversity, its interaction with above-ground biodiversity, and other soil functions, the various ecosystem goods and services that it provides, and the agricultural practices that affect it, and to facilitate the integration of soil biodiversity issues into agricultural policies. The event will include presentations followed by discussion and Q&A by the lead authors of the Soil Biodiversity Atlas as well as by European Commission staff. Free copies of the atlas will be made available to COP 10 participants.
