The side event Towards a green future – biodiversity action on the local level stresses the implementation of the CBD at local level as a key to the success of the Convention. The side event will bring the results of the Nordic project Local Contributions to Meet the 2010 Target into focus, where a number of Nordic municipalities have committed themselves to carry out concrete projects relevant to the 2010-target. Speakers will include the project manager, representatives from Nordic municipalities, the Nordic Council of Ministers and the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN), amongst others. The side event is arranged by the Nordic Council of Ministers, the official body of co-operation between the Nordic governments (Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden), in collaboration with the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
