THE BUSINESS CASE FOR BIODIVERSITY FORUM

Organizer
CII Andhra Pradesh, Confederation of Indian Industry

Date and Time
17 October 2012 18:15 - 19:45

Meeting
Eleventh meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity (COP 11)

Business has an impact on biodiversity in the course of their business operations as they use natural resources for production or consumption of products. The ecosystem is being impoverished by unsustainable activities. Currently there is much concern over the increasing impact of our business actions on biodiversity. The biodiversity is disappearing all across the globe faster than ever before. Destroying it – whether through climate change, pollution or the unsustainable use of natural resources – could irrevocably damage the water, food, air and other natural resources that people, societies and businesses depend on. The biodiversity issues, if not addressed adequately, can impose risks on business operations, whereas actively managing and reporting on biodiversity issues should be an integral part of management systems. The objective of the session is to deliberate on issues related to Biodiversity and make a business case for Biodiversity. The session is addressed by prominent speakers from industry and experts on environment.
