Meeting
Twelfth meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity

This group of global NGOs will jointly showcase the wealth of instrumental material they have been long developing to contribute on the implementation of the CBD. A variety of valuable policy support tools and methodologies have been developed by the CBD, its Parties and its partners, to help in delivering the Convention’s objectives, including, the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 and its related Aichi Biodiversity Targets. Not many have yet reached out policy makers and/or conservation practitioners. The occasion of the mid-term review of implementation of the Strategic Plan for Biodiversity is timely to unveil and further disseminate the knowledge that can guide future implementation action. This event aims at following up from the CBD Secretariat initiative to identify these tools and methodologies, and to identify gaps and needs for technical and scientific support. It will also be cross referencing the usefulness of these tools and methodologies by the UNFCCC and UNCCD. By speed presentations, each NGO will share existing material, their applicability and how they can help deliver specific Aichi Targets, highlighting the potential for improved synergies by their use and applications.
