Date and Time
6 November 2015 13:15 - 14:45

Meeting
Ninth meeting of the Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Article 8(j) and Related Provisions of the Convention on Biological Diversity

The event examines ongoing developments in Canada to create awareness on ABS pursuant to the Nagoya Protocol pending Canada's ratification. It puts in perspectives the work of an SSHRC-funded research initiative under the auspices of ABS-Canada (abs-canada.ca) which seeks to mobilize stakeholders (Aboriginal communities, industries, researchers and civil society organizations) for constructive dialogue and capacity building toward an Aboriginal-sensitive ABS policy in Canada. The events would provide preliminary insight on the outcomes of recent Focus Group on ABS in the Maritime region organized by the ABS-Canada in partnership with Aboriginal Organizations in the region as one of three planned focus ABS groups across Canada.
