Short introduction of the GEF funded and UNEP co- implemented project on Below-Ground Biodiversity; Launch of the book entitled "Soil Biodiversity in Amazonian and other Brazilian Ecosystems; Presentation of some results from the inventory on below-ground biodiversity across seven tropical countries; Discussion on the challenges for the conservation of below-ground biodiversity, by discussing the role of this international project (directed towards demonstration of succesful management of BGBD) in the context of the wider agenda for the conservation of below-ground biodiveristy and other global initiatives related to below-ground biodivesity.
