Notification 2025-072

Extension of Deadline for Nominations and Duration of the Workshop: Regional Workshop on Knowledge Management for Biodiversity for Africa, 21 to 24 July 2025 - Addis Ababa, Ethiopia

Dear Sir or Madam,

Reference is made to notification  2025-056, dated 24 April 2025, inviting Parties to the Convention and its Protocols in Africa to nominate one representative responsible for knowledge management to attend a regional workshop on Knowledge Management for Biodiversity (KM4B) for Africa, which will take place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

I would like to thank Parties that have submitted nominations and to invite those who have not yet done so to send their nominations as soon as possible, but no later than the deadline, which has been extended to 30 May 2025.

I also wish to announce that, following a partnership arrangement with PANORAMA, the duration of the workshop has been extended by one day and will now take place from 21 to 24 July 2025. This joint organization of the workshop will offer participants an opportunity to learn about PANORAMA - Solutions for a Healthy Planet and engage in discussions on how to improve documentation of good practices and promoting peer-to-peer learning.

Please be reminded that participants to the workshop will be expected to have successfully completed the Online Training Course on Knowledge Management for Biodiversity, as indicated in notification 2024-076. Parties are encouraged to nominate participants who attended the course, conducted from 20 August to 20 September 2024 or those who commit to complete the course content available on the KM4B portal at: https://km4b.cbd.int/course.

I look forward to receiving nominations from all Parties in the region. I thank you for your continued contribution to the implementation of the Convention and the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.

Please accept, Sir, Madam, the assurances of my highest consideration.

(Signed) Astrid Schomaker
