There remains a disconnection between biodiversity science and related policy. This disconnection, has to a large extent, influenced our lack of ability to achieve biodiversity goals and targets. Science-policy-society interfaces are multi-dimensional, diverse and strongly influenced by social and political contexts. Multilateral Environment Agreements (MEAs), including the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) are tangible expressions of science-policy interface at work.

This event will bring together experts working on science-policy-society interfaces, including from local communities and women, to discuss the need for strengthening science-policy links to achieve the post 2020 global biodiversity framework. It will also build on UNEP@50 Report launched during February 2020 during the 50th Anniversary celebrations of UNEP.
