In 2021, the GEF and GCF launched a Long-Term Vision of the GCF and GEF (LTV) to enhance the planning, implementation, and outcomes of the GCF and GEF investments in line with the respective strategic investment plans, support the implementation of initiatives in the current programming strategies, while informing future programming periods in both funds in the light of GEF-8 and GCF-2.

At CBD COP15, GCF and GEF are co-hosting a high-level side event to present the progress made under the LTV initiative in developing joint initiatives/flagships that generate catalytic climate benefits and contributions to the biodiversity agenda. The event will provide an avenue for CBD Parties and stakeholders to learn about the GCF-GEF cooperation across the climate change – nature nexus prism and specific flagship programs of relevance under the LTV.

The event will be organized with the participation of Ministers, representatives of GEF Agency and GCF Accredited Entities, partners, and the principals of the two funds during the high-level segment (15-17 December).
