The objective of this side event is to share the work of the Secretariat of the Convention on Biological Diversity (SCBD) and partner organizations to support the implementation of Target 3 and related targets. The event will focus on the regional capacity-building workshops to support Parties, indigenous peoples and local communities and other stakeholders to achieve their commitments under this target.

Presenters will discuss how these workshops provide a platform for a dialogue on the status, gaps, challenges and opportunities as well as available support from regional partners, to enhance progress towards the achievement of Target 3. The event will also address lessons learned from the workshops organized in the Pacific, Caribbean, Latin America and South Asian regions and will provide a general perspective for the upcoming workshops.

The side-event will also be an opportunity to invite partners to support the implementation of Target 3, including through the Global Partnership to support the achievement of Target 3 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
