This side-event aims to facilitate the translation of the CBD Biodiversity Plan into actionable progress for fisheries.

To develop a clearer narrative on fisheries place across the Biodiversity Plan (biodiversity mainstreaming in fisheries) FAO has been unpacking sustainable use and biodiversity management objectives outlined in the GBF alongside a broad range of fisheries stakeholders.

In the side event, FAO and collaborators will share messages collated from fisheries stakeholders on opportunities, challenges and needs of the sector to progress Biodiversity Plan goals and targets.

The event will provide a space for fisheries stakeholders from diverse backgrounds to exchange ideas and share experiences on innovative measures/approaches that both fisheries and conservation actors can take to form a common vision for delivery to 2030 and beyond.
