Climate change has ever-increasing impacts on biodiversity, yet this is rarely taken into account. Worse, climate policymakers tend to rely on thriving biodiversity, when they lay out their climate policies and trajectories. 

The current side event will discuss the interactions between climate and biodiversity, and look deeper into policies that risk to worsen the negative interactions between both. The risks of offsetting, biomass, geoengeneering, will be examined. Also the similarities and differences between climate and biodiversity finance will be examined. 

Speakers will consider which lessons from the climate arena the CBD should take into account, and which urgent messages the CBD may wish to send to climate policy makers.
