At the Montpellier Process high-level event at the CBD Pavilion on Friday October 25th at 13:20, the knowledge-to-action interfacing community will be blending perspectives that make the potential of the Montpellier Process compelling: its ability to unlock local-to-global-to-local action for impact.

The Montpellier Process is a learning collective, community-owned process convened and curated by an alliance of partners redefining how we model effective, more iterative, and better coordinated Science-Policy-Society Interfaces across scales (global, national and local), across sectors (environment, health, people, agriculture, food) and across knowledge systems.

Back in March 2024, 300 scientists, policy makers and civil society representatives from 60 countries came together to explore how global knowledge communities can accelerate and amplify their contributions to food systems transformation—driving real change for sustainable development.

Now we’re taking the Montpellier Process to the Biodiversity COP16 Colombia with a series of interconnected events.

Through the Montpellier Process we invite actors from cities, national governments, and trade  on the front line of implementing food system interventions to share successes and challenges in using available science to achieve global goals including those articulated in the Kunming Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KM-GBF). Our aim is to demonstrate the value of ‘risky safe spaces’ to structure a local-to-global-to-local multi-actor community of practice, where food systems transformation is the key entry point for committing to aligned actionable solutions as a means of increasing the efficiency of the science-policy-action ecosystem and its impact on sustainable development goals.
