This is the second of two-part side-event entitled “National Reporting: Supporting the Global Review of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework”.
By February 2026, Parties will submit a 7th national report (7NR) that assesses the measures they are taking to implement the Convention on Biological Diversity and its Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), and the effectiveness of those actions in meeting the Convention’s objectives, goals and targets of the KMGBF, including national targets aligned with the KMGBF. Parties will have the opportunity to interact with one another to share experiences and overcome challenges and gaps related to developing a high-quality 7NR to the CBD. The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the GEF Secretariat and the CBD Secretariat are co-hosting this side event.
The side event will include:
- Technical working sessions with Custodian Agency leads for key Headline indicators in the monitoring framework
- Sharing of experiences among countries in the preparation of the seventh national report
- Hands-on training in how to use the CBD Online Reporting Tool towards timely 7NR submission
