The Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (GBF) presents an unprecedented opportunity for the private sector to play a transformative role in halting and reversing biodiversity loss. Businesses are increasingly recognizing that biodiversity is not only an environmental priority but also a material risk and opportunity for long-term value creation.

Forward-looking companies are stepping up to integrate biodiversity considerations into core business strategies, operations, and value chains. In doing so, they are contributing to the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of biodiversity while ensuring resilience against nature-related risks.

Beyond compliance, GBF implementation is catalysing innovation, new technologies, and emerging business models. These include tools for biodiversity monitoring, nature-risk assessment, genetic resource tracking, supply chain sustainability and new financial instruments mechanisms are unlocking capital flows for biodiversity action.

The session will capture and articulate the business perspective on GBF implementation, highlighting emerging trends, challenges, and opportunities. It will also explore how the framework is creating new avenues for businesses to innovate, invest, and contribute to biodiversity conservation while ensuring long-term sustainability and resilience.
