In the G7 2030 Nature Compact, an annex to the communiqué at the G7 Summit in 2021, a commitment was made to a global mission to halt and reverse biodiversity loss by 2030 and to become “Nature Positive”. In the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF), the 2030 Target 15 also stipulates the disclosure on biodiversity by the business community.

To this end, “the G7 Alliance on Nature Positive Economies (G7ANPE)” was established at G7 Sapporo in 2023, as a forum to share knowledge and create information networks on the nature positive economy.

But creating nature positive economy requires financial flows to be directed appropriately, in line with KMGBF’s Target 14 which provides for the alignment of fiscal and financial flows with the goals and targets of the framework, and with Target 19 which aims to increase financial resources from all sources to implement national biodiversity strategies and action plans.

To help addressing this need, the French government, as current G7 president, has launched a new alliance of public and private financial actors, the Nature & People Finance Alliance, to strengthen the coordination and scale up the finance for nature.

In this side event, specific activities and solutions for or from companies that contribute to the financing of the realization of Nature Positive Economies are introduced. Through dialogue among various stakeholders in the G7 ANPE, including governments, business, international initiatives, NGOs, we share the latest knowledge and experience to contribute to our transition towards Nature Positive Economies.
